Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade

Saturday 1st March 2014

The threat of thunder storms and torrential rain did nothing to subdue the spirits of hundreds of parade participants on 114 floats nor the thousands of spectators who gathered to enjoy the spectacle of the parade.

This year the Sisters were again asked to be part of the parade prelude. They carried out a perambulation from the assembly point at Whitlam Square to Taylor Square, blessing the route and gathered faithful along the way. The Sisters were escorted on the walk by a select few from the Sydney Leather Pride Association.

At Taylor Square the Sisters took part in the official flag raising ceremony, presenting the rainbow flag to two young members of the gay and lesbian community who raised the flag aloft to wave above the parade. The rains held off until after the parade. Everyone had a marvellous time!
