Friday 26th August 2022
The Sisters were recently invited to conduct a blessing for Kirketon Road Centre at their new facility in Kellett St Potts Point. An auspicious occasion because of our ongoing relationship over many years with this organisation, and that the opening of this new facility was a hard fought and long battle to achieve.
Instrumental to this achievement were Dr Phill Read, Director, for ensuring the funding and Wendy Machin, Clinical Services Manager, for making it happen.
The location of this new KRC facility had been discussed for years. They are now located in the same building as the Medically Supervised Injecting Centre just 3 minutes from KRC at the fire station.
There were about 30 guests comprised predominantly of KRC staff members. We arrived at about 5:30 pm on Friday 26th August to begin the blessing at about 6.00 pm. Sisters in attendance were (Novice Mistress) Sister Rowena Keeper of the Holy Doyley, Sister Eileen Dover of the Double Cross, accompanied by his husband Peter, and debuting in habit for the first time but yet to take a formal Sisterly name Novice Sr Alfie (or Sr TBA/TBC).
Novice Sister Alfie was wearing a holey relic for his manifestation debut being the original habit and whites that Sister Rowena Keeper of the Holy Doyley wore as a novice, so history was repeating itself on this occasion. Hence Novice Sister was adorned in old lace!
It was, as always, a lovely evening. The gathered faithful were fabulously welcoming hosts and there many chuckles and guffaws to be heard. The Sisters remained at this function for about an hour before heading to the Oxford Hotel to continue manifesting at a Sydney Harbour City Bears event.
