Introducing Novice Sister Nana Mouskouri Yasou
Greek Nun from Hell
Although Novice Sister Nana joined the ranks of the RSL (Retired Sisters League) some years ago he maintains his interest in the activities of the Sydney House and still connects with Sisters of the Order.
In 1990 I went to an afternoon house party at Kensington and at the house a Nuncheon was being held. Hosted by Mother Desmond Three Three, With A Bloody Good Tan. Interesting. Shortly after I purchased a terrace in Redfern and one of my first housemates who eventually became my closest friend was Mary Desmond (Raymond Prasad).
On many occasions Mary Desmond hosted a Nuncheon at my terrace and I met many of the Sisters. There were many of the Sisters that I liked. I was curious and interested and started attending some Nuncheons away from my home.
On the 4th of March 1995 after talking to Mother Abyss, Mary Desmond and other Sisters I finally decided to manifest in a lavender habit borrowed from Mother Abyss. A wonderful night.
Shortly after Mother Abyss was kind enough to make my first habit for me and I started to manifest regularly and began my training with Sister MMQC (Sister Mary Mary Quite Contrary).
So why Sister NanaNana Mouskouri Yasou? I chose the name because I look so ethnic.
On 26th May 1997 I commenced a job at a Theological College and even though shortly after starting I was open about being gay I thought my continuing my Sisterly activities could be a bit too much. So, I became an RSL Sister but continued my support for the Sisters by offering my apartment for their meetings and being responsible for the Sisters finances until my health failed.
I have made some wonderful friends through the Sisters.
